»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Greer woman died early Wednesday morning after the car she was driving went off Arlington Road in Greer and landed nearly 40 feet down an embankment into the Tyger River.

Kayla Lee Nodine, 20, of Greer died in the accident according to Spartanburg Coroner Rusty Clevenger.

Nodine was driving a Ford Thunderbird that lost control and plunged into a creek at 2:02 a.m. Clevenger says more tests and further investigation are required to finalize this investigation.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Nodine was traveling south on Arlington Road - also known as S.C. 357 - when she went off the right side of the pavement and went down into the water. Nodine was not wearing a seat belt.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash and removed the car from the water.
