A man and a woman were arrested by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office after they allegedly burglarized a home and then crashed the vehicle the were driving in an attempt to escape the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested 23-year old Douglas Michael Nickerson, of Cowpens Pacolet Rd., Spartanburg, and 20-year old Sarah Magdalene Roberts, of Old Pacolet Highway, Spartanburg, and charged them with one count of second-degree burglary. Nickerson was also charged with reckless driving and driving under suspension, while Roberts was charged with providing false information to police.
According to the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, the couple was arrested Friday after they allegedly burglarized a residence on Bailey St. early Friday morning. According to the report, the victim found Nickerson, Roberts and the victim’s brother inside her second residence around 6 am and told officers that the three then got into a old Dodge Dynasty and left the scene.
According to the victim, they suspects crashed through a wooden fence as they left the area and a short time later, they crashed the vehicle on River Road and Beacon Light Road. When troopers arrived, Nickerson and Roberts were on scene and allegedly gave officers conflicting statements and were arrested.
The victim’s brother has yet to be found.
Nickerson is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $6,500 bond, while Roberts is being held on $4,000 bond.
