Spartanburg Public Safety arrested a Spartanburg man Wednesday night and charged him with two counts of financial transaction card forgery, just one week after he was charged with eight counts of the same charge.
James Lewis McClain, 43, of 97 Allen Ave., Spartanburg, is accused of of using a bogus credit card to obtain tires from Vic Bailey Honda twice on October 21. On Wednesday, November 18, McClain was charged with eight counts of financial transaction card forgery in connection with the same scheme and was released on November 20 on $10,000 bond.
Spartanburg Public Safety says that McClain is part of a scheme throughout North and South Carolina where someone will allegedly call local car dealerships with bogus credit card numbers, order parts or tires and then show up and pick up the tires.
McClain is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $4,000 bond.
