Over 200 motorcycles rolled into Cherokee County and through downtown Gaffney to honor the memory of a fallen hero.
Their mission was simple. They wanted to honor the memory of fallen marine, Christopher Fowlkes, by giving his father an American flag, after he paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
The Rolling Thunder riders started their journey Saturday morning at 9 am in Quantico, Virginia and made their way through North Carolina, steadily picking up other members along the way. When they arrived in South Carolina, they rode through the streets of Gaffney and stopped at the Cherokee County Veterans Museum.
After a few short minutes, the leader and organizer of the ride shook the hand of Fowlkes father, Steve, and took a neatly folded American flag and presented it to him and the rest of the Fowlkes family, as members of the community looked on.
