**Update 2:00 p.m.**
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A judge says prosecutors may seek the execution of a man accused of killing a popular television anchorwoman.
The judge also ruled Tuesday that evidence gathered against Curtis Lavelle Vance can be shown in open court.
Vance is charged in last October's beating death of KATV personality Anne Pressly of Greenville, S.C. A trial is set for Nov. 2.
Defense lawyers said black men convicted in killings are set for execution at an excessive rate, especially if the victims are white. Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza rejected their argument Tuesday without comment.
Piazza also said reporters and the public could attend pretrial hearings over the defense's objections.
Vance has pleaded not guilty.
**Monday morning**

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The man charged with killing an Arkansas television anchorwoman from Greenville is to appear in court for a final hearing before his capital murder trial.

Curtis Lavelle Vance will appear Tuesday morning before Pulaski County Circuit Judge Chris Piazza for a motions hearing in the death of Anne Pressly. Vance is scheduled to stand trial Nov. 2.

Vance could face either death or life-without-parole if he's convicted in Pressly's slaying. Prosecutors say DNA evidence links Vance to the crime and he has confessed to the slaying three times in interviews with police detectives.

Vance has pleaded not guilty.
