COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Police in South Carolina say a hostage situation ended with a woman escaping from a home and a man found dead inside.
Multiple media outlets reported Columbia police were called to a home shortly after midnight Wednesday and found a man threatening a woman in the house.
Police say they heard a single gunshot about 1 a.m. and the woman ran from the home. She was not hurt.
Officers found the man dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The names of those involved have not been released.
