One man is dead and another has been charged with murder after a shooting late Saturday night in Greenville County.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says that 49-year old Terry Gregory, of Simpsonville, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the incident happened around 11 pm on S. Shirley Road at McKelvey Road in southern Greenville County. The Sheriff's Office says that an argument between Gregory and the victim, identified as 20-year old Roger Lee White Jr., of Piedmont, occurred earlier in the evening and the two men agreed to meet each other at the location to settle the dispute.
Greenville County Sheriff's spokesman Matt Armstrong says that witnesses also accompanied the men to the location and told officers that the two men knew each other through family members. Once at the location, the verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation and resulted in Gregory shooting White in the neck. When deputies and EMS personnel responded to the scene, they found White lying in the middle of the roadway deceased.
Gregory has been arraigned at the Greenville County Detention Center and is currently being held without bond.
