A pedestrian hit by an EMS unit on the way to a local hospital Friday night, has died. Oscar Whitner, 46, has been on life support since the accident, but the family agreed today to take him off the system after his organs are donated. Whitner was hit by the ambulance near the intersection of Edgewood and Mills Avenue about 8:30pm Friday night. His step-daughter tells News Channel 7 that he had gone to get something to eat after visiting his wife at the hospital. "I have so many questions for them. We haven't talked to them. They haven't tried to get in contact with us," Lakina Evans said.

The EMS unit was transporting a patient to the hospital when the accident happened. That patient was later placed on board another unit for transport.

Police did tell us Friday night that the accident is under investigation. The say no traffic laws were broken and there is no report yet on the accident.
