A Spartanburg man was booked into the Spartanburg County jail Sunday after he was found unconscious in the driver's seat of his vehicle at the drive-through of a local Jack in the Box, and he later produced a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.
Matthew Paul Helvy, 28, of 308C Agnew Road was charged with driving under the influence and driving with an unlawful alcohol concentration, first offense, of 0.16 or greater.
Police arrived at the Jack in the Box at 1500 WO Ezell Blvd. about 3:45 a.m. Sunday to find Helvy passed out and his vehicle running. After he awoke, an incident report states, Helvy failed a field sobriety test and then provided a Breathalizer sample which registered 0.25 percent.
