In the Upstate, we have a couple more weeks to wait until the leaves really start changing. However, it is a totally different story in Western North Carolina.
Although it’s estimated that Asheville is only showing 30% fall foliage color right now, the mountains along the Blue Ridge Parkway are showing lots of yellows, oranges, and reds. In fact, the area near Craggy Gardens is almost at peak foliage.
The Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau was packed Friday with people wanting to take fall tours. People News Channel 7 spoke with came all the way from Florida and Ohio just to see the foliage.
If you are in the mood to get your fall foliage fix this weekend, head to Western North Carolina.
If you do go along the Blue Ridge Parkway, there is about a 10 mile closure of the road around mile marker 400. Part of the parkway had to be closed due to the fear of a rockslide.
