DILLON, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina fifth-grader is recuperating after he was hit by a school bus.
Multiple media outlets report that the Gordon Elementary School student was taken to a hospital Friday morning after he was struck by the bus before school.
Police say the student was late getting to the stop and was hit by the back of the bus. Dillon School District 2 Superintendent Ray Rogers says the driver did not know the boy had been struck. The student was taken to the hospital and treated for a broken pelvis. Police say the student had been suspended from riding the bus for three days, including Friday.
Rogers says the incident is under investigation. It was not known if the driver will return to work Monday.
