S.C. Marshals Capture Homicide Suspect from Pennsylvania

Bernard Baker AKA: Scrappy, was apprehended this morning at a home on Schoolhouse Road in Columbia, SC. Baker is a fugitive from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is a suspect in a Homicide/Murder that took place on August 16, 2008.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force, Operation Intercept received a request for investigative assistance on August 1, 2009 based on information gathered leading investigators to believe Baker had fled to South Carolina. The U.S. Marshals followed leads that included numerous addresses throughout the state until locating Baker in Columbia, SC. Investigators from the S.C. Marshals Service, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, SLED, and FBI assisted in the apprehension of Baker. Baker was arrested without incident and waived extradition and is awaiting transport back to Pennsylvania.
U.S. Marshal Johnny Mack Brown stated: “Collective efforts from all law enforcement has successfully brought another fugitive to justice. We are proud to support fellow law enforcement agencies in apprehending wanted persons.”
