A grass roots effort looks like it will pay off Monday night at the Spartanburg County Council meeting.
Greer residents living near the old Victor Mill could soon see a redeveloped property where the rundown mill now sits.
Several years ago business ended at the old mill. It was partially demolished and a fire broke out there, leaving both an eye sore and a health hazard.
A group of neighbors living near the mill formed the Victor Mill Community Association and have successfully lobbied to get the mill cleaned up.
The county council is expected to endorse a million dollar low interest loan from the state to get the land redeveloped. If approved, the county would get the money in either January or February.
Once redeveloped, he selling of the property would pay off the loan.
The Spartanburg County Council meeting is Monday at 5:30 in council chambers at the County Administration building on North Church Street.
