The day started early for some Michelin employees, as they reached out to students.
In August, we told you about the "Michelin Challenge Education Program," in which eight thousand employees are given the option of volunteering in eight schools around the state. Thursday morning volunteers had breakfast, and read to students at Fairforest Elementary, before they went to work.
"For me the commitment and sacrifice is worth just every Thursday morning coming here to see these smiling faces...we talk about colors, shapes and we talk about how the books relate to things they experience in their lives," says employee Dan Bruinsma.
Michelin says there are a large percentage of children from eastern European countries at Fairforest, as well as those who speak Spanish. Native Spanish speaking employees are volunteering at the school, and they are hoping to soon have one who speaks Russian.
