Woodmont High School Student Killed in Crash Wednesday

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A 17-year old student at Woodmont High School died in a crash Wednesday night. The coroner says Emily Peck died while riding in a car that struck a tree.

The accident happened around 9:30pm Wednesday on West Georgia Road near Reedy Fork Road. Corporal Kathy Hiles of the South Carolina Highway Patrol says the car was heading west on West Georgia Road when it went off the pavement and struck a tree.

Peck was a passenger in the front seat. Hiles says it's unclear whether she was wearing a seat belt when the accident happened.

Paul Peck, 18, was driving the Nissan. He was taken to Greenville Hospital System with non-life threatening injuries. A 13-year old passenger, who was in the back seat, was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Hiles didn't know the relationships between Emily Peck and the two other boys in the car. The Greenville County School District confirmed Emily Peck was a student at Woodmont High School in Piedmont.

The Highway Patrol will send a special investigation team to the accident scene.

This is the second fatal accident in 24 hours involving a teenager in Greenville County.
