Gaffney Police responded to the home on O'Neil Street in Gaffney around 4:30 after a report of an argument between Cobb and her mother. An incident report stated that the officer went inside the home to speak with the mother and he noticed the home was in total "disarray."
The officer noted he found dog food and soiled diapers in the floor and food behind the doors. The officer said he noticed the child had bruises on his legs and asked Cobb, "what happened?" The officer said that Cobb told him that the child fell alot and when the officer went to pick up the child, he said that the child had soap in his eyes and they were burning. The officer said he noticed further bruising on the child's body and head.
