South Carolina's most inspiring athletic event took place Saturday with wounded soldiers showing their are no limits to what they can do.
The Soldier Ride Carolinas Challenge started at the Mary Black Healthcare Campus in Spartanburg. Plenty of injured soldiers also took part in the either 25 or 62 mile event. The Wounded Warrior Organization started by veterans to honor their wounded brothers.
News Channel 7 talked with one soldier who lost his leg when when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb in iraq in 2006.
Spc. Brent Hendrix with the U.S. Army said, "I got a trach right here the first time I died on the battlefield I was dead for 15 minutes and they pulled me off the truck and actually uh brought me back to life. "It's good to see all these people that are going to take the time out of their day to ride bikes with us. I hope they can keep up".
Saturday's ride was held in memory of Army Private First Class Michael S. Adams of Spartanburg who was killed in Iraq on August 21, 2003. Click on the video link for a full report from News Channel 7 reporter Dianne Derby and photojournalist Jason Parker.
