Investigators with the Haywood County Sheriff's Office are calling the discovery of a body in a remote part of the county on Monday "suspicious". They also believe they know who the victim is.

The body was discovered by a hunter Monday afternoon off Panther Creek Road. Chief Deputy Larry Bryson told the Asheville Citizen-Times that the victim is a white male, in his 30's and he was a resident of the area, but did not live near where the body was discovered.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday in Chapel Hill, but the body is believed to have been in the area since the weekend.
