COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina Law Enforcement Division
officer has been accused of misusing a state-issued gasoline card.
SLED spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said Tuesday that 46-year-old
Ronnie Smith of Fairfax was arrested Monday and charged with petty
larceny and misconduct in office.
Arrest warrants show Smith used a state-issued gas card to buy
fuel for two of his personal vehicles between November 2007 and
this month.
Smith was fired from SLED earlier this month during the
investigation. Timmons said he had been an agent since 1985.
Officials said Smith had been released from the Allendale County
jail. There was no working phone number listed for Smith, and it
was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
