Oconee County Coroner Karl E. Addis say an autopsy was performed Thursday on Walt Wilbanks. The autopsy showed Willbanks died from a single, shotgun wound to his chest. Addis says the death is classified as a homicide.
**Thursday 10:35am Update**
Oconee County authorities late Wednesday afternoon charged Yates Walter Wyant, 59, of Mountain Rest with the shooting death of Walt Wilbanks, 70, of Mountain Rest.

News Channel 7 has confirmed Wyant is being held in the Oconee County Detention Center.
On Thursday autopsy results are due out in the killing of a man in Oconee County. The coroner's office said officers found 70-year-old Walt Wilbanks dead in a truck with the engine still running off Whetstone Road in Mountain Rest.
The coroner said he had a gunshot wound to the chest and the case was being investigated as a murder.
