Parents Encouraged to Visit Sex Offender Website Before Trick or Treating

In just a couple of days thousands of children will going through neighborhoods in search of candy but child care advocates from Safe Kids Upstate are urging parents to check the sex offender registry website to find out which homes to avoid.

Sex offenders are supposed to be confined to their homes from 5 pm until 9 pm on Halloween with their lights out. Just to be sure, parents are encouraged to map out a safe route and chaperone their children.

The sex offender registry website is easy to use. You just put in your zip code and or address and it will list the sex offenders living near you, including their picture, address, and what they were convicted of.
