With the H1N1 flu vaccine in demand right now, people were waiting in lines at Parkside Pediatrics to get their children vaccinated. And for one family, they waited in line four hours early before the 8 am flu clinic Saturday morning.
Six-year-old Gabe Dugeaw, his brother and sister were getting their H1N1 flu vaccine, while their parents, Jill and Jay, say they were a little worried about the safety of the H1N1 vaccine. But once educating themselves about the vaccine, they felt their kids should get it.
Dr. Scott Dobson of Parkside Pediatrics, which was giving out the shots, feels parents shouldn't be worried. “We feel like the vaccine is safe and effective. It's been studied; I’ve given it to my own children and we want all of our kids to be vaccinated this year.”
For this first round of H1N1 vaccines with Parkside Pediatrics, the doctors were given 500 doses for the children of the practice.
Dr. Dobson say's he isn't sure when they will get more vaccine, but they've been told they will eventually have enough vaccine for all their patients.
