COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Attorney General Henry
McMaster is talking about a task force created to go after people
suspected of soliciting children for sex over the Internet.
Members of his statewide Internet Crimes Against Children Task
Force are joining the attorney general at his office in Columbia
Wednesday to announce to milestones in the program.
A law passed in April 2004 has enabled the task force to make
arrests for criminal solicitation of a minor. Since then,
McMaster's office says the Task Force has announced 170 arrests.
McMaster's office has used a federal grant to provide computer
equipment and training for law enforcement officers on the task
force.
Last week, McMaster official kicked off his campaign for the
Republican nomination for governor.
