Travel vouchers show Governor Mark Sanford was reimbursed with your money for a trip he did not pay for in the first place. Sanford won the plane ticket at the 2004 BMW Pro-Am at the Cliffs Golf Tournament, according to "The State" newspaper. He flew business class to "The Paris Air Show" in June 2005 with a delegation from South Carolina but was then paid back $1,100 dollars with state money.
Senator David Thomas of Fountain Inn said that contradicts Sanford's claims that he did not buy any business class airfare.
Sanford's spokesman said the governor's use of the voucher saved the state at least $1,000 dollars from the full price of a business class ticket. To read more on this story, click here.
