MARION, S.C. (AP) - A coroner has ruled that an author who wrote books about some of South Carolina's most infamous murders drowned in the Pee Dee River near the U.S. 76 bridge.
Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson told WMBF-TV that after getting back toxicology reports, he thinks 56-year-old Dale Hudson fell in the river on Aug. 12 and ruled the death an accidental drowning.
Investigators say Hudson called his wife that day and told her he was suffering from a migraine and was parking on the side of the road to rest.
Fishermen found Hudson's body in the river three days later.
Hudson's books included a story about a North Carolina woman convicted of having her boyfriend killed as they walked in the sand at Myrtle Beach.
