Myrtle Beach Festival Marks End Of Tourism Season

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - With the end of the summer tourism season on South Carolina's Grand Strand comes the annual festival of food and dance.
The Beach, Boogie and Barbecue Festival gets under way Friday evening and continues through Saturday in Grand Park at the Market Common. It's the fourth year for the festival at Myrtle Beach, which is the heart of the state's $16 billion tourism industry.
This year's event features free musical entertainment, a car show, wake board demonstrations and, of course, barbecue.
The cooking events include the Anything Goes contest and tasting on Friday. The Official South Carolina Barbecue Championship and Kansas City Barbecue Society Cook-off are being held Saturday.
Both cooking contests award cash prizes to the winners.
