Three men have been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a Greenville man in July.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says that they have arrested 20-year old Dustin Gore, of Piedmont, 54-year old Ellen McMorris Jr., of Greenville, and 21-year old Tyler Scott Whitman, also of Greenville, and charged them with murder, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The incident happened on July 25 when the three men allegedly chased Jason Stewart onto Anderson Road in Greenville County, where he was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says that witnesses told them that Stewart was being chased through the Shady Oaks Mobile Home Park on Harvard Avenue and was being followed by a vehicle. Investigators say they determined that Stewart was being robbed at gunpoint by the suspects and ran to escape from the suspects before he was struck and killed.
Linda Brown says she is living a mother's nightmare. "They took a part of me that I'll never be able to replace and if they got sons or daughters, I hope to God they never have to go through this," she said. Brown learned of the arrests Friday night after her daughter called her.
The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says that Gore, McMorris Jr., and Whitman are all being held at the Greenville County Detention Center without bond.
