CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster says his office is negotiating its own settlement with pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc.
The drug maker was ordered to pay $2.3 billion because of illegal sales tactics.
The settlement includes $331 million given to 49 states for their Medicaid programs.
South Carolina was not a part of the settlement, and McMaster told The Post and Courier of Charleston that he thinks his lawyers can get more money by negotiating their own deal.
McMaster says negotiations have been going on since the spring.
He refused to say how much South Carolina wants from Pfizer.
The company did not comment.
