SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A South Carolina man faces a long list of charges after a Labor Day crash in the Smoky Mountains foothills that sent 18 people to hospitals.
Randy D. Zlobec of Myrtle Beach was held in Sevierville in lieu of $250,000 bond. He faces charges including three counts of aggravated assault, vehicular assault, DUI, failure to stop and render aid, reckless driving, criminal impersonation and not wearing a seatbelt.
The Knoxville News Sentinel reported the 34-year-old Zlobec was arrested after he fled the crash scene and waded across the nearby Little Pigeon River.
Three victims remained in a hospital on Tuesday.
Police said Zlobec's pickup truck rear-ended a car on Highway 66, causing a crash that involved six vehicles.
