ATLANTA (AP) - Officials at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are expanding the staff at the airport chapel.
Larry Cowper is the new full-time chaplain at Hartsfield, only the second full-time chaplain at the world's busiest airport.
Cowper joins Chaplain Chester Cook, who operates the new Interfaith Chapel on the third floor of the airport atrium. Other chaplains volunteer at the airport.
Cowper's duties include offering encouraging words and prayer to passengers, as well as helping run the new chapel.
The recently opened 1,040-square-foot chapel includes room for 30, and a library stocking everything from Gideon Bibles to Jewish mystical texts. The airport renovated the space at a cost of $200,000.
