First responders from across Anderson County gathered Friday to dedicate the new Anderson County Fire Service Training Facility, which according to its board members, will provide a training site for more than 1,500 men and women from across the area, including law enforcement, paramedics and even public works employees.
According to the facility's board, "This facility came to life through the joint efforts of the Anderson County Fire Department, City of Anderson Fire Department, and Towns of Belton, Honea Path and Williamston Fire Departments. The Anderson Fire Service Training Facility, Inc. provides a local area of training for Firefighters who previously were required to travel to Columbia for necessary schooling."
Firefighters said the date of the dedication, September 11, is significant, because of the changes that day brought to the firefighting industry. Firefighters said that day also showed the importance of all first responders training and working together, to reach the same goal- saving lives.
