Anderson police said they have killed a second dog they believe to be responsible for killing several cats in the city limits, according to our coverage partners at the Anderson Independent.
This came a short time after the other one of two wild dogs in Anderson was shot dead. That happened after a dog matching the description of one of the dogs, turned on a police officer Friday morning.
A call came in that the dogs were spotted in an Anderson neighborhood near downtown. The city sent out its special operations division and found a black lab mix with a white spot on its neck, which matched the description given of one of the two wild dogs which have now killed just under a dozen cats. Police say the officers tried to get the animal with a catch pole. When the dog turned on an officer, the officer shot and killed the dog.
"He had to take action for his own safety," said a spokesperson for the Anderson Police Dept.
The most recent attack took place Thursday night into Friday, at a home on Springdale Dr. Another dead cat was found, and a woman told NewsChannel 7, she heard the cats screaming and dogs barking, in the middle of the night.
