A man suspected of robbing at least 10 banks in four states has been arrested in Missouri.
The FBI in Kansas City, Missouri tells News Channel 7 the tip came from a retired Missouri State Patrol trooper who noticed the vehicle fitting the description of Schaffner’s at the Super 8 motel in Kingdom City. He did some research and discovered the tag number matched the ones from local news reports. The former trooper the Missouri State Patrol who then responded with the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI to arrest Schaffner without incident.
Schaffner is expected to have his initial appearance in Federal Court in Jefferson City, Missouri Monday morning. The FBI says it is likely Schaffner will be extradited to Tennesee.
**Update Sunday 11:45 a.m.**
The Missouri State Patrol confirms 37 year old Chad Schaffner, wanted by FBI for several bank robberies in the Southeast was arrested in Kingdom City, Missouri Saturday afternoon. Missouri State Patrol received a tip from someone that recognized Schaffner and said he was in the Kingdom City area. Officers from the State Patrol and FBI made the arrest at the Super 8 Motel in Kingdom City. Paul Reinch with the State Patrol told News Channel 7 Linda Goin, an acquaintance of Schaffner, called into the hotel room where Schaffner was and told him the place was surrounded. Reinch says Schaffner went into custody without a fight. Goin has not been arrested but she is described by investigators as a person of interest.
Schaffner is being held on four charges:
Receiving stolen property-Clermont County, Ohio
Bank Robbery-Tennessee
Burglary/Theft-Indianapolis, Indiana
Armed Robbery-Jefferson County, Illinois
Schaffner was taken to Calloway County Jail on Saturday, where he is being held without bond.
Authorities do not know when his first appearnace will occur and which state he will be extradited to due to the large amount of charges against him. More charges may be coming.

The man wanted for about a dozen bank robberies, including two in Henderson County, North Carolina has struck again in Indiana on Friday.
The robberies have taken place in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, & Kentucky.
The FBI received hundreds of calls and tips and identified suspect Chad Schaffner within 24-hours after electronic billboards went up across the south.
Investigators said he is from the Indianapolis area.
No one was hurt in any of the robberies.
