News Channel 7 has confirmed a joint cooperative effort between Milliken and Company and Sage Automotive Interiors will secure nearly 1,000 jobs in the Upstate.
The partnership will ensure workers at Milliken's former Cotton Blossom Warehouse will keep producing cloth used by automotive manufacturers.
A spokesperson for Sage Automotive tells us, the cooperative will keep the two companies entirely separate entities from a legal and financial standpoint.
The story was first reported by our media coverage partners at The Herald-Journal.
The paper reports Milliken plants that will fall under the Sage umbrella are: Gayley plant in Marietta; Abbeville plant in Abbeville; Cotton Blossom in Spartanburg; Avalon plant in Toccoa, Ga.; and Autotex plant in Brazil, as well as support operations in the United Kingdom, Japan and China.
Milliken and Company says their Sharon plant - located near Abbeville - will not closed as has been reported.
