DENMARK, S.C. (AP) - Authorities accuse a former South Carolina high school football coach of attempting to coax a student into a sex act.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported Wednesday that former Denmark-Olar High School head football coach Andrae Rice is accused of exposing himself to a 17-year-old female student during school hours last November.
The State Law Enforcement Division says Rice is charged with unlawful conduct toward a child. An affidavit dated Aug. 26 accuses the 32-year-old coach of trying to reach the student by cell phone after she fled the room.
The newspaper reports Rice resigned from Bamberg County District 2 in December, citing family issues.
It was unclear if Rice had an attorney. A woman who answered his home phone said the family had no comment.
