Grocery shopping for the elderly just got easier in Spartanburg County.
The Senior Centers of Spartanburg County have begun their Shop-N-Cart program.
For $15 dollars (on top of the price of the groceries) volunteers will do grocery shopping at BiLo for people 50 years and older who can't do it on their own anymore or just need some help. After they do the shopping, they will deliver the groceries to your home. Basically it’s a home grocery delivery service.
“The people that we love to deliver the groceries to are those who want to stay in their home, who are independent. They don't want to go to assisted living or a nursing home,” says Cathy Baier Rogers of the Senior Centers of Spartanburg County.
“I would have to keep imposing on my friends… I know they don't mind doing it, but sometimes it's a burden to shop for yourself and someone else too,” says Josephine Calemine Curcio of Spartanburg who now uses this service.
