A convicted sex offender selling was cited for operating a business without a license after he was caught selling ice cream from a van Monday evening.

A report obtained by News Channel 7 from the Greer Police Department states that Greer Police received an anonymous tip that 64-year old Jimmie Berl Calloway, of Taylors, was selling ice cream out of a van and was a registered sex offender. A officer responded to 102 Valley Glenn Dr. inside the Greer city limits, where the officer observed Calloway selling ice cream to children and adults.

The report states that the officer asked Calloway if he had a business license to operate in the city of Greer and Calloway responded that he did not think he was in the city limits. The officer said he advised Calloway he was inside the city limits and needed a business license to sell ice cream. According to the report, Calloway told the officer he had never been stopped before, but a subsequent check showed that Calloway had received a citation for a broken tail light earlier in the day.

The officer told Calloway that he was not allowed to do business inside the Greer city limits until he purchased a valid business license and cited him for operating without a business license and proof of insurance required.
