Pernell Thompson pleaded guilty to the murder of Marisha Jeter Monday. He was then sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Marisha Jeter was a 16-year old Union County High School student. She was junior class president, an honor student and a cheerleader.
Pernell was charged with stabbing Jeter to death in January 2008, and dumped her body in the Broad River.
Thompson and his wife, Yolanda, were both charged with the murder. Investigators say Thompson, who was also having a relationship with the teenage Jeter, killed Jeter to prove his love to his wife.
Yolanda pleaded guilty in March to murder and other charges.
Today Thompson was led away to prison.
Before the sentencing ended, Thompson addressed the Jeter family and his own family, while wearing a bullet proof vest.
Jeter's parents addressed Thompson as well, Jeter's father, Manning Jeter, telling Thompson he was "going to hell."
