Pickens EMS says they responded to a call at a home on Joni Lane in Pickens County yesterday, for someone who was bitten by a bear.
The Department of Natural Resources says a 21-year-old woman tried to pet one of two caged bears in the home, when they say the bear attacked her and she had “serious” injuries to her arm.
DNR says she is recovering in a local hospital.
DNR is investigating why the bears were caged at the home and if it was legal. The owners of the home where it happened refused to talk about what happened.
