(Gaffney) Police say a man hung a six year old boy by his shirt to a pole on Saturday.
46 year old Vernon Leverett was charged with assault and battery.
Adriene Jamison says Leverett hung her grandson on the carport railing of a home on Popular Springs Drive. She says the boy told her Leverette left him daggling to go inside the home to get a camera. "He was hanging by his shirt. He said he was trying to keep up on his tiptoes so he could breathe," Jamison said.
Jamison says two neighborhood children saw her grandson dangling and helped him down when Leverett went inside the home. "He has asthma. He probably would have had an asthma attack. He could have possibly died," she said.
Vernon Leverett bonded out of jail Sunday. He did not comment on the allegations.
