Cause Of Homeless Woman's Death Released

Deputies charged Joseph Calvin Creech, 38, of murder in the death of Beverly Kimbrell, according to incident reports.

Police believe Kimbrell died around April 21, according to incident reports. Her body was found on April 25. Preliminary autopsy findings show the homeless woman died from strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head, according to the coroner’s office.  The coroner adds the are running more tests to find out if she was sexually assaulted.

Incident reports state a neighbor found Kimbrell’s body in a condemned home while checking on a homeless man supposed to be staying at Horne Street address.

The neighbor called deputies Sunday at about 3 p.m. Deputies found the 54-year-old woman’s body when they arrived.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office said Creech was arrested and is being held in the Richland County Detention Center. He will be returned to Spartanburg County

SCSO investigators say Creech, of Enoree, and the victim were acquaintances, but there’s no indication there was a romantic involvement.
