Update 10:40 AM from the Carolina First Center
The doors opened at 6 a.m. with hundreds of people waiting to be seen for free medical and dental care.
Due to the sheer volume of patients waiting to be seen by the Dental Association’s Dental Access Days, they will not be taking any additional patients that are not currently here. However, the South Carolina Hospital Association, AccessHealth SC and its many partners are still taking medical patients. Doctors and nurses are available to see individuals who need medical care.
Also there is no vision care available today.
By the end of day one, nearly 800 people had been seen in medical and about 1,000 people in dental. As of 8 a.m., more than 1,000 people had been registered and seen by medical professionals. The average age of the patients is 42 years old.

Due to an overwhelming number of people that have turned out to SC Mission 2010 and Dental Access Days, no additional patients will be taken for dental care. The patients already in line will be seen.
Medical services are currently still available but we will make adjustments as needed.
There are no vision services today.

Medical specialists from across South Carolina are offering free services Friday and Saturday at The Carolina first Center in Greenville.
By 4:00 a.m. Friday more than 100 people were in line, according to organizers.
News Channel photojournalist Jason Parker talked with people in line who said they started lining up at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
"I came for the dental, but I also need to check on my health," said Charlene Scott. "I don't have any health insurance and I don't qualify for medicaid or anything like that. I know they're doing things I need to be taking care of so you need be out here."
The Mission 2010 event will help medical specialists and providers offer free service to patients and citizens in need.
The event is open for people to get information, help from licensed practicioners who provide dental, medical and vision services to low income residents in need and uninsured adults on a first come, first serve basis.
The event begins at 6am Friday and ends at 6 pm. Saturday's event is from 6am-2 pm.
