A water main break that caused headaches for commuters has been fixed.
Right before morning rush hour got thick, the water main broke below I-385 at Laurens Road in Greenville, causing delays for the morning commute.
For much of the day, Wednesday, the giant crater caused problems to Laurens Road, not only to commuters, but also to residence's and businesses.
"I had a river flowing through my back yard. You can see the wash out," said Patrick Victory.
Victory owns two buildings. He says the watermain break left them without water.
"I have tennants and were all shuttling back and forth to the gas station to use the bathroom," he said..
They weren't the only ones affected.
The owner of a nearby hair studio says she had to cancel some appointments and use bottle water to wash hair because she didn't have water for the majority of the day.
Driving was also a problem. Ricky Palks travels around the area washing cars before he heads to his night job. He says the construction has delayed him a couple of hours.
Lynn Stovall with Greenville Water System says they may never know what caused the break.
"I wish it hadn't happened. Were going to get it fixed as quickly as we can," she said.
Officials say the cost of the break may not be known for a few weeks.
According to Greenville City officials, the water main break had been fixed by 9 pm Wednesday night. However, two lanes along Laurens Road, near Stone Avenue, under I-385 were still closed due to the water main break, but they expected those lanes to be open shortly and traffic was already moving smoothly.
