Testing shows a quantity of insecticide was found in some carpet at the Greenwood Main Post Office that's according to Communications Coordinator Harry Spratlin for the Greater South Carolina District.
However, it's not known if the insecticide is what made some workers sick, forcing the post office to close.
The National Guard Hazmat team monitored the air and collected swabs and samples inside building on Monday. Spratlin says their assessment has been completed. He says that their air monitoring results were negative, and results from the swab samples should take 1-2 days to return. The agency is also still awaiting results from independent testing of the air quality that was conducted on Saturday.
Officials say after final testing results are returned the office will undergo a minimum 24-hour clean-up before returning to normal operations. Until then, box mail and window service will be provided at the Magnolia Station on 202 Magnolia Avenue.

Customers were being served outside of the Greenwood Post Office, on Cross Creek Blvd, because of what may be lingering on the inside.
The National Guard came to inspect the place after a number of workers started complaining about getting sick.
"It was a sweet metallic kind of smell." was what one employee, who wished to remain anonymous, explained.
She and her co-workers believe that the aroma is to blame for making over half of the 75 postal employees ill.
