The judge set a $10,000 surety bond on the drug charges, but bond couldn't be set by a magistrate on the murder charge.

Groves is accused with murder in a 2005 shooting death in the Bamboo Garden Restaurant on the Highway 28 Bypass.
James Wells walked to his car in the parking lot when a shooter gunned him down in an attempted robbery.
Investigators have not said what led to Groves’ arrest, but more details are expected later.
