Investigators with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office say that a home that was supposed to be sheltering the homeless, was actually housing something else.
Investigators with the Sheriff's Office Narcotics unit raided a home at 521 Neighborhood Road in Wellford on Friday . The home, which Sheriff's officials say was owned by 47-year old Laurie Ann Mugavero, of Wellford, was used to operate Healing Ground LLC, a homeless shelter organization.
Deputies say that when they raided the home they did not find any homeless people. Instead, they say they found five pounds ofmarijuana, 37 grams of hashish, 220 assorted tablets of Diazepam, Alprazolam, Buperenorphine and Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine, along with assorted rug paraphernalia and $615 in money.
Deputies also raided Mugavero's residence a 190 Barnwell Road in Wellford and found six marijuana plants, five pounds of marijuana, five bags of marijuana stems, one glass smoking bowl and a marijuana grinder and three handguns.
Deputies arrested Mugavero, 58-year old Putnam Cardwell Reynolds, also of 190 Barnwell Road in Wellford, and 24-year old Richard Steven Mugavero, of 521 Neighborhood Road. Laurie Ann Mugavero and Reynolds were each charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and manufacturing marijuana. Richard Steven Mugavero was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a schedule III controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute hashish and scheduled IV controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute alprazolam.
Laurie Ann Mugavero was released from the Spartanbug County Detention Center on $25,000 bond, while Putnam Cardwell Reynolds was released on $5,000 bond. Richard Steven Mugavero remained at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $12,000 bond.
