Spartanburg, SC – Desiree Puglia, Miss Pendleton, was crowned as Miss South Carolina 2010 in front of a cheering crowd at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, July 3, 2010.
Desiree Puglia is a 22-year-old from Simpsonville. A double preliminary winner in Talent and Evening Gown, she tapped danced A Cappela. She wins a $15,000 scholarship, and will go on to compete for the title of Miss America on Las Vegas, NE, in January 2011.
Runners-up for Miss South Carolina are:
First runner-up: Deja Frederick, Miss Laurens County, 20, of Lexington. A double preliminary winner in Lifestyle and Physical Fitness, and Evening Gown, she sang At Last.
Second runner-up: Lindley Mayer, Miss Upstate, 21, of Greenville. A double preliminary winner in Talent and Lifestyle in Physical Fitness, she performed a jazz dance to a Michael Jackson Mix. She was Miss South Carolina Teen 2005.
Third runner-up: Courtney Cisson, Miss Columbia, 19, from Greenville. She played Dueling Banjos on the banjo. Courtney was Miss South Carolina Teen 2008.
Fourth runner-up: Morgan Smoak, Miss Darlington, 23, of Casey. She performed a clogging routine to Living in America.
The remainder of the Top 11 Miss contestants included:
Tracy Smith, Miss Lowstate, 20, of Clemson. She sang Listen.
Brooke Eaves, Miss Myrtle Beach, 21, of Myrtle Beach. A preliminary winner in Evening Gown, she tap danced to Big Noise.
Terrilyn Stephens, Miss Lexington, 23 of Summerville. A preliminary winner in talent, she played Hungarian Rhapsody #6 in D Flat by Franz Liszt on the piano.
Caitlin Hunt, Miss Summerville, 19, of Summerville. She sang The Girl in 14 G.
Andrea “Bree” Boyce, Miss Florence, 21, of Florence. She sang Chi il bel sogno di Dorreta from La Rondine.
Hannah Ponder, Miss Greater Greer, 19, of Greer. She clogged to Me & My Gang.
Caroline Blanton, Miss Myrtle Beach Teen, was crowned as Miss South Carolina Teen 2010.
Caroline Blanton is a 15-year-old from Conway. A preliminary winner in Evening Gown, she sang I Believe. She wins $5,000 in savings bonds and will go on to compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, FL, in August 2010.
Runners-up for Miss South Carolina Teen are:
First runner-up: Rachel Wyatt, Miss Powdersville Teen, 15, of Piedmont. A double preliminary winner in Talent and Evening Gown, she performed a lyrical dance to Held.
Second runner-up: Caroline Byrd, Miss Darlington Teen, 16, of Darlington. She tap danced to Don’t Rain on My Parade.
Third runner-up: Anna Brown, Miss Greater Greer Teen, 17, of Taylors. A preliminary Evening Gown winner, she performed a lyrical dance to I Love You Goodbye.
Fourth runner-up: Erika Bryant, Miss Florence Teen, 17, of Dillon. A preliminary talent winner, she performed an operatic selection, O’ Mio Babbino Caro.

Leighann Bagwell, Miss Upstate Teen, 17, of Greenville. She clogged to Are You Ready for a Miracle.
Allyson Swygert, Miss Greater Irmo Teen, 16, of Lexington. She perfomed a jazz dance to My Strongest Suit.
Daja Dial, Miss Greater Carolina Teen, 17, of Spartanburg. A preliminary winner in Physical Fitness, she sang And I’m Telling You.
Lauren Perry, Miss Coastal Empire Hampton County Teen, 13, of Barnwell. She performed a jazz dance to Devil in a Blue Dress.
Makaela Shealy, Miss Columbia Teen, 16, of Gilbert. A preliminary Physical Fitness winner, she sang Once Upon a Time.
Both young women made their first public appearance as title-holders at Red, White & Boom, a local community concert and Fourth of July celebration in Barnet Park, Spartanburg, SC.
The public is invited to a press conference to meet the new title-holders on Sunday, July 4, at 10 a.m. in the Croft-Wadsworth room at the Spartanburg Marriott.
