A North Carolina mother says she hopes other gay and lesbian couples don't have to suffer through her experience of having a Tennessee judge prevent her teenage children from living with her and her partner.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that Angel Chandler of Black Mountain says it's gratifying to win the case, not just for herself but also for other gays and lesbians from Tennessee.
Last week, Tennessee's Court of Appeals for a second time struck down a judge's ruling in a child custody agreement that prevented Chandler and Mary Counce, her partner of more than 10 years, from living together.
Angel Chandler used to live in Gibson County, Tenn., but she and Counce now share a home in Black Mountain.
The "paramour clause" was first imposed in 2008 and prohibited overnight stays by Counce.
