The "Greenville 8" held a sit-in at a Greenville County Library fifty years ago. On Sunday, they celebrated the anniversary.
Rev. Jesse Jackson was one of the eight.
"There was a certain innocence about it. We were really fighting for dignity," Jackson said.
Jackson, along with seven others, were arrested for sitting in the library.
Two months later, the Greenville County Library System opened its doors to all races.
"When I walk down Main Street Today and see white and blacks embracing. We at least removed the face of the barriers," he said.
Seven of the "Greenville 8" are still alive.
Four of them celebrated their civil rights at the library on Sunday.
A librarian presented them with new library cards, as symbol of the progress they've made.
