The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office charged a former Greenville County Schools teacher with criminal sexual conduct with a minor on Tuesday, according to warrants provided by the Sheriff’s office.

Melissa Kellie McBee, 46, of Simpsonville, is accused of sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl lived with McBee sometime between Aug. 2005 and Jan. 2007, according to a release.

The girl, now 21, isn’t being identified because she was a minor when the crime occurred, deputies said.

During that time, warrants state, the suspect also provided alcohol to the teenager, leading to a separate charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

McBee resigned as a teacher from GCS on March 25, according to the system. Administrators placed her on leave in Feb. 2010, when they said they learned of the accusations.

McBee worked at Greenville County Schools since Aug. 1991. She most recently served as a health occupation teacher and cross country coach. She also worked as a P.E. teacher, girls assistant basketball coach, volleyball coach and head softball coach.

The Sheriff's Office stated in a release that anyone else who believes they may have been a victim of similar crimes enacted by McBee to contact them at the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

As of Tuesday, McBee is being held in the Greenville County Detention Center waiting for a bond hearing.
